I began to learn to play the guitar at the age of 16, playing along to my favourite bands - by ear.
I wasn't into music theory or tab.. I just liked to experiment with certain shapes and sounds.
I have no particular style, although my home grown comps generally fall into the realms of Rock or Classical.
I had long felt that I would never master the instrument, that my progress was limited by the lack of ideas, which might have come from having joined a group. Indeed I was hindered by the lack of any formal music training or theory. And so in 2005, I purchased a low cost Yamaha synthesizer and began to learn to play the piano, whilst focussing on the theory.
A year later, I upgraded to a second-hand digital piano, the Korg Concert 3500. This came with MIDI, which opened up a new world of possibilities, and soon I was scoring my own compositions using PrintMusic (Finale). Having realised my interest in musical composition, I abandoned the idea of studying music formally - it's a very expensive business!
Since having discovered this fantastic site for musicians, I have uploaded some of these musical inspirations for the pleasure of all. As simlpe as others may find them to be, I can't begin to describe the pleasure I get from each and every composition I put together - I hope they strike a chord with others.
