Hiya

I gotta do a remix (only my 2nd ever) and the key of the tune I have to remix is in Key C but with a suspended 2nd. Does this mean that the D (the 2nd note of C) is not used, or flattened or what? Cheers but my music theory only goes up to about the circle of fifths and not much more past there.

A suspended chord is one where the 3rd is replaced by either the 2nd or 4th.
So Csus2 is C, D, G.
Csus4 is C, F, G
There's no such thing as a suspended scale.

So do I get a copy of the remix when it's done?

Yea if you're into deep underground house and you can play CDR's. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

The thing about suspended chords is that they sound.... well, sort of suspended. Unresolved. You are expecting something to follow it to resolve it. If you keep the third in a Sus2 chord it becomes an add9 which will sound fine but not quite the same. For a sus4 it will sound wierd because you will have two notes a semitone apart But wierd is ok if wierd is what sounds right.

yeah, the power of a sus2 is in it's resolution. so you're going to probably be
moving from a chord that has a two in it, like a five (G,B,D) to a Csus2,(CDG)
resolving to the one(CEG). That's the simplest, though you could be moving
from something a bit more risque like a seven (BDF) to a two (DFA) to a four
with that sus2 (FAD) then move up to the five (GBD) then go to another sus2 in
the one chord (CDG) then resolving finally to the one (CEG).

Peaceout,

Peter
