Anybody heard anything about when the new one might come out? 3.53 is only for the plus. Hasn't been one for the Q since 3.02, and that was a WHILE back. Don't get me wrong, it's a great box as is...but I know that Waldorf has more up their sleeves for this thing.

novamusik has been advertising a polyphony-increasing OS
update on their site for like the last year or so

Whuh? Where? I checked Novamusik and could not find it.

I went to Waldorf's FTP, and the latest I could find there was 3.53, but that OS is for the Q+ ONLY as far as any of the documentation goes. When I talked with a couple of folks at Waldorf about the architecture of the Q versus the Q+, they are very different and OS 3.53 would not be compatible with the Q's voice allocation and filter system. Waldorf offers a hardware voice expansion from 16 to 32 voices, if that is what you are referring to, but that is not simply a software issue. If you have more info, I would love to see it. Perhaps you saw something I did not. Thanks either way.

The latest OS for the Q+ has the dynamic voice allocation (not sure if that's the right expression) hat was already implemented in the microQs.
Means that simple patches need less DSP power than complex ones and therefor have a higher polyphony.

Waldorf once mentioned that this feature might be contained in future Q OS too.

But their current OS update speed isn't very impressive ;-)

i didn't mean you could download it from them, i meant
that they simply advertised it. of course, as soon as ive
mentioned it, its dissapeared from their website. used to be
there on the lefthand side in the "news"
i figured it was bullshit, since it had been on there
forever....
