So if I was to try and build a funk gtr patch form scratch on my es2, is there any pointers I should be aware of and how would you do it?

geez, you only gave it 3 hours, dood.

I would use something along the lines of a square osc with a short duty cycle (that is, change its pulse width until it, um, sounds more like a guitar).

Then it's all about envelopes, a slight filter attack, then decay. Some chorus. A nice amp sim after the fact wouldn't hurt to give it "air"

Cheers mate, I'll give that a go tonight. Not modulating the width of the square wave is where I'm going wrong I think. Ta.
