Seriously though, what scales do you guys use when writing tracks? I'm bored of the Dorian now. Any other scales work better?

The only reason I enjoy giving tech and harmony lessons is because I remember how excited I was when some of these concepts clicked for me. I think it definitely can improve your creative life, even though the sheer academia of it all isn't where it's at.

I just like trying to explain things better than they've been explained to me. Or something like that.

yep, cheers psi for taking the time to put it down.

i like messing around with the keyboard and seeing what happens but now that i'm starting to understand scales and chords I find it easier and quicker to come up with something that pleases MY ear.

So all this helps my improvising and when i do stumble across a certain phrase that I like it's nice to find out what other chords might go with it as well... check out this site for help with chords and scales. simple but effective
